Panagiotis Krokidas This is atmospheric, cinematic music. You know Subheim? Something on par with his characteristic sound. Highly recommended.

P.S. If you don't know Subheim I urge you to give him a chance. It may turn out it's the best thing you heard in a long time.
Jesse Lipp

Jesse Lipp gloomy downtempo with a pleasantly raw feeling to it. the use of vocals and string arrangements is superb. highly recommended. Favorite track: Ninetynine.
LazerShoes

LazerShoes Dark and gloomy, but in a way that keeps you interested. This is a really textured piece of electronica with complex beats and a cinematic feel to it. Favorite track: Proof.
ערפל

ערפל Rich, imaginative and touching experience. The album introduces well-refined fusion of different, sometimes bit contrasting vibes and sounds, and this adds to release originality.

Well done, you should sell this "on same shelf" with Amon Tobin, Flying Lotus and other top-notch musicians with "name" , because it is the top-notch stuff.
Cheers. Favorite track: Proof.
Dotflac
Dotflac thumbnail
Dotflac Downtempo to the bones, Ninetynine provides an accessible listening experience, but not a simplistic one.

Except a few pads and glitchy layers of sounds, Poordream essentially uses natural textures from dense strings or wooden percussions to sensitive voices (including Zinovia's) to give life to his work.

Putting the organic before the electronic gives this album a feeling of experience anchored to the reality, like it lived the highs and lows of existence and matured since then.

Recommended. Favorite track: Open Probability (feat. Zinovia).
Liiaiira

Liiaiira An amazing album from Poordream. A hand crafted haunting take on the Ambient / IDM genre. Complex, deep, emotional. Favorite track: Urbanies.

about

From Greek-born composer and sound designer John Valasis aka Poordream, comes his debut LP ‘Ninetynine‘. Recently added to Ninja Tune’s publishing house alongside artists Bonobo, Amon Tobin, and Flying Lotus, Poordream now offers this collection of songs that take the listener on an intense journey, set to explore the contrasts between earthly and urban, fragility and harshness, hope and despair. From ambient, organic and cinematic to experimental sound sculpting with electronic means, Poordream masterfully blends real instruments and field recording with digital textures and atmospheres in order to synthesize a unique mixture of world and contemporary electronic music.

‘Ninetynine‘ reaches into the human consciousness, illuminating undiscovered aspects of mind. The ordinary life of the city and other hidden, mystic secrets meld together between complex beats and stark melodies in a work of art that is unique in its diversity. By combining elements of dreamy, atmospheric IDM, breakbeats and world music, and expertly utilizing the deep singing of cello strings, chopped up and arranged to constitute beatwork, Poordream has constructed a listening experience that is both gritty and ethereal.

Features collaborations with Subheim and Zinovia. Available on Compact Disc and Digital formats December 2nd, 2014.
